Production Supervisor

Summary

Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Production Supervisor is responsible for accurate planning and coordination for all manufacturing functions of the business while managing the production and repair technicians.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works as production planner to forecast work schedules and supply needs.
  • Assign technicians weekly production goals.
  • Ensure that all kits coming to the floor are complete.
  • Single point for resolution for all design/build issues with engineering
  • Work with floor leads to train incoming technicians
  • Troubleshoot production floor issues with a view to keeping techs focused on builds.
  • Manage production and repair teams to include performance management, goal setting, attendance, training, and overall employee leadership.
  • Evaluate training needs and develop training to meet group and individual performance goals.
  • Establish minimum workmanship standards and an appropriate training program to drive improvements and consistency.
  • Drive improvements to the RMA process to increase efficiencies and assure quick turn on repaired products.
  • Verify, approve and sign off production routers.
  • Track and maintain inventory list of all specialty tools.
  • Assigns RMA workloads, monitors progress and forecasts completion dates. 
  • Trains RMA employees on customer service standards, phone etiquette, customer field support and resolution of customer service issues.
  • Works with VP of Operations to accurately plan, forecast and repair returned items.
  • Escalation point for customer repair issues.
  • Periodically check quality and correctness of technician’s work.
  • Follows safety rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

Education/Experience

BA/BS in business/operations and 5+ years hands on electronic manufacturing experience and a minimum of 1 year managing employees; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum three years’ experience in Warehousing / Inventory Management / Logistics in a manufacturing or logistics capacity.
Ability to lead and motivate subordinates through training, communication and participative management.
High degree of commitment, initiative, flexibility and attention to detail.
Professional verbal and written communication skills.
Requires the highest level of professional ethics, leadership, and appreciation for teamwork.
Must be able to effectively communicate across the organization on issues, deadlines, delays, etc.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrable proactive approach to roadblocks that risk the on-time completion of a project.  
This individual will be comfortable working in an organization where short decision-making cycles, decisiveness, and individual responsibility and accountability are expected and valued.
Ability to accurately forecast and plan work assignments
Ability to assemble electro-mechanical equipment.
Problem solving and diagnostic skills related to assembly, testing and inspection. 
Committed to producing high quality products
A demonstrated tactful, but aggressive style to meet deadlines, be extremely responsive and lead in a team oriented environment

 

Computer Skills

Advanced working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Outlook; MRP experience required and Syspro experience preferred.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

Valid Driver's License may be required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, see and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.  The employee must be able to climb and stand on a 6-foot ladder.

 

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Warehouse environment with temperature control with some exposure to the outside environment when working in the shipping/receiving area.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
