Mechanical Engineer
The Mechanical Engineering position will support the design and development of mechanical systems and components at our Alpharetta, Georgia facility. This role will assist senior engineers in creating 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
In this hands-on role, the Mechanical Engineer will ensure the consistent application of our proprietary design techniques to all rugged products, while maintaining the highest standards of design integrity, manufacturability, and producibility. Key qualifications include experience in mechanical engineering principles, design tools, ruggedization materials, and manufacturing techniques.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Interprets customer specifications to define mechanical design requirements.
- Develops mechanical layouts and design concepts for new products using SOLIDWORKS®.
- Collaborates with electrical engineers to ensure proper placement and wiring of circuit card assemblies.
- Creates detailed fabrication and assembly drawings and conducts geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) analysis.
- Evaluates design features and mechanical fit for first article units.
- Collaborates with the engineering team throughout product design, integration, and testing phases.
- Partners with the Prototype team to build prototypes, validating designs.
- Prepare and review cable drawings for technical and physical fit into NHA.
- Develops Bills of Materials (BOMs), test procedures, and product specifications.
- Generates Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and reviews peer work for quality assurance.
- Provides project cost estimates and lead times for components for various designs.
- Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to
improve and streamline department processes - Coordinates with other divisions and departments as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive experience with SOLIDWORKS and a strong understanding of best practices for model development and library management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Eagerness to learn the NetSuite ERP system.
- Experienced in mechanical design for shock, vibration, and thermal management.
- Familiar with fastening hardware and its application.
- Possesses knowledge of material properties, including metals, plastics, adhesives, and gaskets.
- Hands-on experience with machine shops and CNC processes.
- In-depth knowledge of industry principles, procedures, and best practices.
- Familiarity with DoD standards and military specifications for the manufacturing of rugged products.
- Prior experience in producing display, computing, and peripheral products to military specifications is strongly preferred.
- Stays current with emerging technologies and trends related to mechanical processes and suppliers.
- Applies experience and judgment to plan and achieve goals within established engineering procedures and best practices.

Education and Experience:
- BS Mechanical Engineering
- At least 5 years of relevant experience
